Paving the Way Thanks to Cold Feed Bins December 4, 2009

Do you ever drive down the road and notice that it has been repaved? Do you ever wonder how it is done? What the process is? For the everyday person, asphalt is all around us, but we never really take the time to look around and think about how these things come about. We pretty much take for granted the hard work and skill that goes into making things such as asphalt, which in turn leads to things such as new roads, which make our lives easier and more enjoyable.

Everywhere you look these days, there is construction or paving going on. You see heavy machinery, and you really have on idea what things are! To me they’re just huge pieces of equipment that I have no idea of what their function is. But of course, each piece of machinery has a function. For example, take the cold feed bin. This large machine can come in various sizes, however, the function remains the same. They are used to help convert asphalt material into usable product, for such projects as repaving a road. There are a variety of other means where this can be used, but the primary use of this large piece of machinery remains the same.

The next time you are driving down a freshly laid tarmac, think of how much work, how much machinery was used in making your life more comfortable.
